Below are some examples of grade level lessons I have given. As I continue to learn and grow as an educator I am introducing more choice based or inquiry based lessons.
Grade 1- Eric CarleFirst graders created these animals, based on Eric Carle's book Animals, Animals, with textured paper that they created. The artists then wrote stories about their animals during writers workshop with their homeroom teachers.

Grade 2- Georgia O'KeeffeAfter learning about American painter Georgia O'Keeffe second graders used chalk pastels to create these awesome flowers. Artists used O'Keeffe's paintings Red Poppy and White Trumpet Flower as inspiration for their work.

Grade 3- Vincent Van GoghAfter studying the series of sunflower paintings by Dutch artist Vincent Van Gogh third graders painted their own versions of the famous paintings.

Grade 4- Aboriginal ArtIn connection with the cultures unit the fourth grade social studies curriculum, artists learned about the Australian natives, the Arborigines. Artists used symbols and the Arboriginal art as inspiration to tell a story about themselves and nature.

Grade 4- Keith HaringAfter learning about American grafitti artist Keith Haring, fourth graders used oil pastels and sharpies to create their own Keith Haring inspired work.

Grade 5- TessellationsIn connection with the geometry unit in the Everyday Math curriculum, fifth graders traced pattern blocks and colored them with markers to create these eye catching tessellations.
