Christine Wiest
I grew up in the beautiful Pocono Mountains in Northeastern Pennsylvania in the United States. After receiving a Bachelor of Science in Art Education from Kutztown University I moved to Brooklyn, New York to begin my teaching career. While in New York I received my master's degree in Elementary Education and met my husband, Matthew Wiest, who is currently a MS Social Studies teacher. After 5 years at Public School 131 in Brooklyn our love of travel pushed us to look for teaching positions overseas. We soon found ourselves at Asociacion Escuelas Lincoln in Buenos Aires, Argentina. We have taught at Surabaya Intercultural School in Surabaya, Indonesia and are now currently teaching at Anglo American School of Sofia in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Throughout my career I have taught kindergarten through grade 12 art, including AP art, Visual Art IBDP, and yearbook. I am a highly organized, flexible, and dedicated professional that incorporates visual arts with other areas of the curriculum on a regular basis. Collaborating with colleagues to integrate art in the core subjects is one of my strengths. In my classroom all students, regardless of their language ability or learning styles, are provided with opportunities to be successful in art. I set high, clear expectations, but provide an organized and enjoyable classroom. We have been very fortunate to work at amazing schools with warm and friendly staff. Our schools have always made us feel at home in an unfamiliar place. |
